There are many corrupt forces that are trying to manipulate the system for their own corporate/power self interest to the detriment of the American people including Obamacare which is about people control not cost control. For example, why are the largest pharmaceutical companies providing $150M to fund ads promoting Obamacare?
Conservatives want health insurance reform that is MORE COMPETITIVE, simple, honest, individual based, free-market oriented and NOT another ineffective and unnecessary government/union morass.
A better system is individual based, not employer based, offering mandatory private sector catastrophic health coverage similar to buying auto insurance. This coverage would need to be available across state lines without pre-existing conditions restrictions. There are 1300 health insurance companies in the USA but only six can write in CA. The insurance deductible would be $5k or so and the nominal premiums would be tax deductible.
Next, we need Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to fill the insurance deductible gap. This would create a cash basis economic model for medical services with millions of consumers seeking the best price for services rendered and the best quality. How come we can have eye surgery to correct nearsightedness for under $1k and breast augmentation for under $3k but to get stitches in a cut finger can cost $2k....because the former procedures are not covered by insurance and the later is. Physicians could eliminate the overhead of most of their insurance billing departments. Any amounts not used would accrue to the individual taxpayer similar to an IRA. Contributions to the HSA are tax deductible.
These free market programs easily mesh with a safety net for those citizens who are indigent such as the use of a voucher for the catastrophic health coverage. Also, tort reform is a necessary component.
