Hi! I am Ken Mettler. I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. I am a home builder and real estate consultant. Also, I serve as an elected Kern High School District trustee.
My wife Barbara and I are parents of two active sons. Robert is a university student and an Eagle Scout. Michael attends Centennial Elementary in the Rosedale School District and loves sports.
The work ethic was instilled in me, as I held a variety of jobs while attending high school and college. One interesting job was as a student worker for the Los Angeles Police Department. Also, I organized a Big Brother program and the College Republicans. Ultimately, I earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of California in 1975.
I then entered the Peace Corps as an Urban Project Evaluator and was assigned to a U.N. group conducting a survey of earthquake damaged buildings in Managua, Nicaragua.
I returned home to work for an oil company as an analyst. After saving a nest egg, I entered the real estate field. I have served as the president of land development and home building companies since 1978. I also, work as a construction and real estate litigation consultant and expert witness.
Community activity has always been my hobby. Currently, I am a Kern High School District trustee, president of the Bakersfield Republican Assembly, and a vice president of the California Republican Assembly. Further, my wife Barbara serves as a Rosedale Union School District trustee.
My public service record is clear, concise, and conservative. I try to loyally serve the public with honesty, hard work, and integrity.
Ken Mettler
