Hi friends! My name is Ken Mettler, a self employed businessman in California who is mad as hell. Like you, I am tired of politicians who have neither signed the front of a check nor had to sweat to make a payroll. We simply cannot take any more "job killer" legislation and we the people have paid more than enough in taxes.
As a life-long Kern County citizen and a fiscal and social conservative activist with many battle scars, it was an honor to have supporters encourage me to run for the California State Assembly 32nd District because I have consistently stood up for conservative principles.
It is my privilege to serve as the President of the California Republican Assembly, which is the premier conservative Republican organization that President Ronald Reagan called the “Conscience of the Republican Party”. I also organized the Republican Assembly of Kern County. We work tirelessly for life, liberty, private property, low taxation, and religious freedom in our state.
During my current tenure as the Vice-President of the Kern High School District Board of Trustees, which is the largest high school district in California serving 37,000 students with a $460 million dollar budget, we have stopped “social promotion” which moved kids up in grade level without mastering the course work; restored Christmas and Easter holidays; posted the National Motto in 2000 classrooms; reinstituted the daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance; ensured “parental notification” for any student medical procedure release; advocated fiscal responsibility; instituted academic boot camps; exposed public employee union leadership abuses; instituted an “E-Verify” like system to ensure only legal citizens are employed; and implemented a cost effective canine drug deterrence program.
This year gave me the opportunity to serve as Kern County chairman for Yes on Prop. 8 - Protect Traditional Marriage, to help lead the fight to defeat Prop 1A, the massive state tax hiking budget scam and to co-organize the Tea Party Patriots. It is a reward to act as a watchdog against governmental waste, dishonesty, denial of private property rights, and lawsuit abuse of small businesses and to serve as an elected member of the Kern County Republican Central Committee.
My public service record is clear and conservative. I am not remotely interested in doing what is politically correct today but a disaster for our kids’ future.
Most importantly, my wife Barbara and I are the parents of two active sons. Robert is a university student and an Eagle Scout, and Michael, a 7th grade student who loves sports.
